Hi, Bryan:

My first pair of struts with 8.75" hole spacing lowered the SEAT about 2.4 inches to 25.2 inches. (I'm going by seat height) The tail end probably dropped 3 inches or more. I made another pair of steel struts today with 8.25" hole spacing, and they should drop the bike close to 4 inches at the tail. Is that where you measured your drop? I sure hope this isn't going to stress those frame welds! When I decide which struts to use, then I'll have them chromed.
Yes, I live in California, in the Mojave High Desert town of Apple Valley, up the Cajon Pass from San Bernardino. After being away from bikes for 33 years, I wouldn't want to tackle the Cajon Pass until I get my old skills and confidence back again! (I'm 65)
